Not that it matters in the least, but is my NCAA bracket screwed up or what?
Usually I can pick at least two of the Final Four teams, but not this year. In fact, I didn't pick any of them this year. All my picks dropped real early (UNC, Duke, Pitt, and Boston). You can't really tell me that I was going out on a limb with any of those either. So, not only did I not pick any Final Four teams, but I only picked 2, yes 2, of the Elite Eights. If not for UConn and UCLA I'd probably be looking at the worst bracket picks of all time. Again, not that any of this matters. In fact, I kind of like a year that throws you a real curveball for the brackets. It means that there's been some entertaining basketball to watch. Heck, I sure didn't pick George Mason University to make it out of the first round and there they are, suddenly showing their ugly muggs in the fourth. If you're like me and have a royally messed up bracket take solice in the fact that it's been a real treat watching some Cinderella magic on the TV.
Enough about basketball, not on to the finer things in life: the arts! Last Wednesday night I had my little coffeehouse performance at school and there were 100+ people in attendance. That made me super happy. All in all, I played for about an hour and broke out a lot of originals, plus some covers like "Railroad Man" by the Eels and "The Monster Mash". I also came up with a creepy sounding cord progression and sang the lyrics of Pee-Wee's Playhouse to it. I think people liked that one. It was a fun night and a learning experience.
I think I've got all my lines down for the play. We've got to be off book today, so I think I've got them well enough that if I have to call for line I'll be able to pick it up pretty well. All the fight scenes and dancing are coming along quite nicely too.
Well, I've got rehearsal this afternoon and then I'm going to jump in the lake. After that I'll see what Josh McGraw is up to. I think it'll be a good day.

The Donettes
You should form a band called 'The Donettes,' Luke. Glad to hear that the show went well, but I'm not so glad to hear about the whole "basket" "ball" thing. How people get so into college sports confuses me even more than how they get into pro sports. Oh well, I guess I'm just not normal. :(March 26 2006, 16:04:50 UTC 6 years ago
Re: The Donettes
Pro sports are starting to bore me. I liken the NCAA B-ball tournament to "Battle Royale". You fight until you die or until you're the only one left standing. That, to me, is interesting, plus I love watching sport when the people involved aren't working for th big paycheck. On the college level %99 of those guys are playing to win and playing because they love the game and have a passion for it, they've got no future in the game- kind of like the crazy guy from "BR". He loves killing people and he has that go-get-'em attitude that makes him a media darling, even if he isn't going to make a career of it.The Donettes? Why?

Re: The Donettes
That explanation works. I just don't like people cheering on some team they have no affiliation with, I guess. Admiration of the players is quite noble, actually.Donettes are Hostess' mini donuts and I think it just sounds cool.
